I am a historian and writer. I trained at the University of Oxford, and I now work at Swansea University in Wales, where I lecture on modern European and global history. I write on historical memory, and I am particularly interested in the memory of the wars of the twentieth century. I use oral history in all my research, which means (for me) that the voices and stories of ordinary people are the beating heart of my work.
